SUMMARY:Citizen science workshop of the LIFE A-MAR project in Denia (Alicante)
DESCRIPTION:On September 27\, a citizen science workshop will take place in Denia (Alicante) to train and raise awareness about the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network in the Spanish Mediterranean. It is part of the development of a citizen science campaign that includes a total of 15 activities in the autonomous communities of Andalusia\, the Region of Murcia\, the Valencian Community\, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.  \nThe Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO)\, in coordination with the Directorate-General for Biodiversity\, Forests and Desertification and the autonomous communities involved\, is responsible for these actions within the framework of the European project LIFE A-MAR\, Knowing and loving the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network to protect them\, of which she is a member. The project is coordinated by the Italian Federation of Parks and Nature Reserves (Federparchi) and is being developed in parallel in Italy and Spain.  It is supported by the LIFE Program of the European Union. \nThe citizen science workshops combine a theoretical part with practical experiences to train citizens in the observation\, collection and recording of data on marine biodiversity using digital tools and applications. All of them are free.  \nThe theoretical contents are aimed at raising awareness of the LIFE A-MAR Natura2000 project and the fundamentals of citizen science. The active part of the workshops include whale watching from the boat\, snorkeling and walking routes for flora and fauna observation. All this adapted to the particularities of each protected area.   \nTo attend the workshop in Denia (Alicante) it is necessary to register in advance. \nPROGRAM\n📌  Denia. DESCRIPTION:The Scenarios-PNACC Working Group\, made up of the Spanish Office for Climate Change\, the State Meteorological Agency\, the Spanish National Research Council and the Biodiversity Foundation\, organizes this event to present the new generation of climate change scenarios for Spain. \nThis session will report on the work carried out in recent years for the regionalisation for Spain of the most recent global projections\, as well as the most important limitations and future improvement plans. Likewise\, the new version of the AdapteCCa Climate Change Scenario Viewer will be presented\, a fundamental tool to better understand the possible evolution of the climate in our country.

DESCRIPTION:We organized a presentation day of the nine beneficiary projects of the call for environmental improvement in the agricultural and forestry field and the sustainable development of the Doñana environment. \nThe objectiveivof these  projects is to promote activities compatible with the conservation of the Doñana area and to promote the ecological transition in this area through the best scientific knowledge. To this end\, pilot projects\, of an experimental and transformative nature\, are financed for environmental improvement in the agricultural and forestry fields that   they will make it possible to promote the bioeconomy and the diversification of socio-economic activities.

SUMMARY:Inauguration of the AVE Doñana II exhibition at the headquarters of the Biodiversity Foundation in Seville
DESCRIPTION:We inaugurate the AVE Doñana II exhibition at the headquarters of the Biodiversity Foundation in Seville (Patio de Banderas\, 16). These exhibitions arepart of the collaboration agreement signed between the Biodiversity Foundation and the META MIAMI Foundation\, in collaboration with the Doñana biological station of the CSIC\, for the implementation of this project that delves into the relationship between two protected areas on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean through art\,  the Hato del Frio in Venezuela and the Doñana National Park in Spain.  \nThe artists selected in this second part of the agreement are Adrián Pujol  and Carmen Laffón. L The two exhibitions will be presented together with a full programme of parallel activities\, and will be available for visit until 19 March 2026.

DESCRIPTION:We present NatUrbana Conecta\, a new community of practice on the renaturation of cities and support in the monitoring of indicators. This initiative arises with the aim of offering a space for meeting and learning about urban renaturation and river restoration that contributes to consolidating urban green infrastructure in the territory and advancing in the ecological transition of Spanish cities. NatUrbana Conecta has had the participation of a large part of the projects that are currently being carried out within the framework of the calls for aid coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation to promote urban renaturation and river restoration. The presentation ceremony will be inaugurated by the Director General of Biodiversity\, Forests and Desertification of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge\, María Jesús Rodríguez de Sancho.    \nThe presentation of NatUrbana Conecta can also be followed through the social networks of the Biodiversity Foundation.

DESCRIPTION:The 30th United Nations Climate Conference is taking place from 10 to 21 November 2025 in Belém\, Brazil. SUMMARY:Presentation of the LIFE Wetlands project
DESCRIPTION:Coinciding with World Wetlands Day\, we present the LIFE WETLANDS project\, the largest nature conservation and restoration project in Europe.  \nThis ambitious initiative will carry out more than 280 restoration actions in wetlands\, one of the most important ecosystems for the health of the planet\, in  107 Natura 2000 Network sites in the 17 Autonomous Communities. This is an approximate  total of  21\,800 hectares that\, added to those that will be restored with complementary funds\, amount  to more than 26\,100 hectares\, 130% of the restoration objective set out in the Strategic Plan for Wetlands 2030. \nLed by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO)\, it has a partnership of 24 partners\, represented by four units of the ministry itself\, 12 Autonomous Communities\, two provincial councils\, four companies and public foundations\, as well as four environmental NGOs. \n \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Within the framework of NatUrbana Conecta\, the community of practice on city renaturation and indicator monitoring developed in the context of the European Union-funded Recovery\, Transformation and Resilience Plan (RTRP)\, NextGenerationEU\, we continue to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences. \nThis session\, focused on the management of exotic species in urban renaturation and river restoration projects\, will address the main technical and operational challenges associated with their control\, elimination and monitoring.
