SUMMARY:United Nations Conference on Biodiversity (COP16)
DESCRIPTION:We participated in the meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Held in Cali (Colombia)\, this year\, under the slogan “Peace with Nature”\, it seeks reflection to improve the relationship we have with the environment\, rethink an economic model that does not prioritize the extraction\, overexploitation and pollution of nature. Within the framework of the COP\, from the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB)\, promoted by the Biodiversity Foundation\, we will highlight the actions carried out to promote the incorporation of nature in the decision-making of the Spanish private sector by participating in parallel events with the rest of the members of the Global Partnership Business and Biodiversity and at its annual meeting\, which will take place on October 26. On Thursday\, October 24\, we participated in the presentation of the collaborative project “Positive incentives for Biodiversity“\, where we will present the actions of the Pleamar Program. On Friday\, October 25\, we will participate in a round table on green employment at the meeting “EMPINVEST event on Employment Impact Assessment (EmpIA) to promote the creation of decent employment“\, organized by the International Labor Organization. On October 29\, Land Life Iberia\, a member of the IEEB\, organizes “Enabling private investment to nature-positive activities in the Iberian Peninsula: challenges and opportunity“\, where the FB will also be represented. Finally\, on October 30\, we participated in the meeting “Positive Incentives for Ibero-America and Exchange of Best Practices”\, which we co-organized with CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean.
