The scientific sailboat of the Fundaci\u00f3 per a la Conservaci\u00f3 i Recuperaci\u00f3 d’animals marins (CRAM), the Vell Mar\u00ed, dedicated to marine exploration, will remain close to the exhibition, in the port, to receive visitors. <\/p>\n

The director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Ana Leiva, attended on Wednesday, June 8, the opening ceremony of the exhibition “In favor of sharks, a sea of hope”, produced by CRAM, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation. Also present at the inauguration were the director of the R\u00eda de Bilbao Maritime Museum, Jon Riug\u00f3mez, and the president of the CRAM Foundation, Ferran Alegre, among other representatives of collaborating entities. <\/p>\n

On World Oceans Day, in addition to inaugurating the exhibition, attendees have also been able to visit the Vell Mar\u00ed, the scientific sailboat of the CRAM Foundation, which remains moored in the port \u2013 in a place close to the exhibition \u2013 during the same period that the exhibition is open to the public at the R\u00eda de Bilbao Maritime Museum (Basque Country). that is, until July 17.<\/p>\n

Promoting citizen commitment to the preservation of the marine environment and motivating environmentally responsible attitudes is the objective of the traveling exhibition “In favor of sharks, a sea of hope”, mounted on an easily understandable graphic and textual support. It is a global approach to the current situation of elasmobranchs, allowing the visitor to obtain sufficient information on the problem and the positive actions to be taken. <\/p>\n

The exhibition includes models and photographs of different species of sharks (elasmobranchs), which are life-size and with them the challenge of changing the public’s perception of these animals is posed: sharks are not only predators, they also suffer from the fragility of marine biodiversity.<\/p>\n

It addresses issues such as the vulnerability of the species, the ‘predator or victim’ paradox, the threats faced by its individuals (such as habitat loss, marine pollution and overfishing, among others), the fight against its extinction and the specific conservation actions that are already being carried out.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is aimed at all types of audiences, from people who already have a certain knowledge of the thematic content to citizens who are looking at it for the first time. All visits are guided by professionals trained by the CRAM.
