The general director of Water, Jaime Palop, has said that the water situation in Spain is “delicate, but not chaotic, it is not uncontrolled”, and that the hydrographic confederations of the southern half are preparing “strategic plans” in case the spring becomes dry again.<\/p>\n

Palop has given a press conference together with the newly appointed president of the Guadiana Hydrographic Confederation, Enrique Calleja, and has said that the Ministry is aware of the possible winter and spring rains because, if there are months of drought again, “we could have problems even for the consumption of mouths”. <\/p>\n
He explained that he has entrusted these strategic plans to the confederations of the Guadiana, Tagus, Guadalquivir, J\u00facar and Segura basins, because they are the most affected by the scarcity of resources. We are facing a multi-year drought,” he said, so his department is taking “prevention measures” in the southern half of the peninsula. <\/p>\n
