The Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Isabel Garc\u00eda Tejerina, today presented the project “One million commitments for the Climate – Road to COP21 in Paris”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This project is presented two days before the commemoration of World Environment Day<\/strong>, which this year is celebrated under the slogan “Seven billion dreams. One planet. Consume in moderation.”<\/a> In this sense, Garc\u00eda Tejerina mentioned the message sent by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, in which he asks citizens to reflect on the consequences of the choices we make for the environment. <\/p>\n

“It is in this spirit that we are launching this project, with the aim of involving all citizens in the fight against climate change and, at the same time, doing everything in our power to make COP 21, which will be held in December in Paris, a success”. <\/p>\n

In this regard, Garc\u00eda Tejerina thanked the Embassies of China, Peru and France for their support of this Project, as they are three key countries in the international negotiation to achieve this great agreement in Paris. He also thanked the collaboration of more than 60 entities that have already committed to this initiative. <\/p>\n

The minister also highlighted the work of Professor Jos\u00e9 Manuel Moreno, a Spanish expert in the field of climate change, whose explanations have contributed to making us all aware that climate change represents the greatest environmental challenge facing the planet. <\/p>\n

As Garc\u00eda Tejerina explained, with this project “we want citizens, institutions and companies to know what we can do to fight  against climate change and take action in a decisive way.” Garc\u00eda Tejerina understands that this work is not impossible and that, with small daily actions, each citizen can make their contribution when it comes to reducing emissions. <\/p>\n

Precisely, today begins to generate “a wave of unity that permeates hundreds of thousands of citizens and thousands of companies and entities”, he said. He also asked the first committed entities “to convey the message to the whole of Spanish society because, without a doubt, we are facing a historic moment in the fight against climate change”.  <\/p>\n

Garc\u00eda Tejerina also commented that in this project “we give value to the important role that each of us plays in the transformation of our development model towards a low-emission model”.<\/p>\n

WEB ONE MILLION FOR THE CLIMATE<\/strong>
On the other hand, Isabel Garc\u00eda Tejerina announced that the unmillonporelclima.es<\/a> page is now open and encouraged everyone to leave their commitment to the climate now. As he detailed, on this page anyone can make their public commitment in favor of the climate, either individually or as an entity.  <\/p>\n

This page offers a menu of commitments that reduce CO2 emissions, with more than 80 potential actions to choose from, although each person can also leave their own, and thus expand the menu.
The project will also be supported by social networks. On Twitter<\/a> , with the hashtag: #PorElClima<\/strong> and on Facebook.<\/a><\/p>\n

In this context, Garc\u00eda Tejerina reiterated his request for everyone to collaborate to reach that figure of one million commitments achieved in Spain. “If we succeed and Spanish society presents those million commitments at COP 21 in Paris, we will demonstrate that with enthusiasm, work, imagination and clear ideas it is possible to achieve a great global agreement to fight climate change. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":35581,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"palabras_clave":[],"class_list":["post-97857892","actualidad_home","type-actualidad_home","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nOne Million Climate Commitments -
