The Secretary of State for the Environment, Federico Ramos, today highlighted the work that the Government has been doing<\/a> to achieve a low-carbon economy<\/strong>. Ramos spoke this morning at the XII National Congress on the Environment (CONAMA),<\/a> where he reviewed climate change policies and the important projects in this area promoted by the Executive in this legislature.
\n 
Federico Ramos, who has inaugurated the “Business and Biodiversity” Working Group, has stressed Spain’s support for the rest of the European Union’s partners in the search for international commitments to fight climate change, and whose confirmation will take place soon at the Climate Summit <\/strong>to be held in Lima. a key meeting to achieve in 2015 the new climate agreement that will replace the Kyoto Protocol, a commitment that will bind all countries.
\n 
Among the initiatives listed as an example of joining forces in the fight against climate change and in the transition to a low-carbon economy, the Secretary of State highlighted the creation of the Spanish Group for Green Growth<\/a>, which this week held its First Meeting Forum, chaired by Minister Garc\u00eda Tejerina, and in which Spanish companies and the Administration have participated to share information, experiences and initiatives in order to work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
\n 
Regarding this Group, the Secretary of State has assured that “its contributions allow strengthening the negotiating position of Spain and the EU in the next international summits on Climate, especially the one in Lima, which will be decisive in committing effective actions to halt and reverse climate change”.
\n 
In his speech, Ramos reviewed the policies carried out by his Department with the aim of achieving a low-carbon economy, detailing the Plans for the Promotion of the Environment (PIMA Aire<\/a>) \u2013 which already have three editions \u2013 in addition to the PIMA Sol<\/a> and PIMA Tierra<\/a>, and which will immediately be followed by a new PIMA Aire.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted the Climate Projects<\/a> aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in diffuse sectors, and the implementation of the Carbon Footprint Registry<\/a>, to which more than 50 companies have joined, which will also strengthen national sinks. On this point, Ramos highlighted the presentation of the Route Footprint, to meet the reductions in CO2 emissions in 2020 in diffuse sectors. <\/p>\n

Federico Ramos has also visited the stand that the Ministry has at CONAMA, in which a large part of these initiatives are detailed, a stand made with recyclable and reusable materials.
