The Secretary of State for the Environment, Pablo Saavedra, has inaugurated the II Forum of the Spanish Green Growth Group, where the Report “Green Growth: Spain today and tomorrow”<\/strong><\/a> has also been presented, which seeks to lay the foundations for economic policies capable of converting the potential of the low-carbon economy. in growth and job creation.

The Spanish Green Growth Group (GECV) <\/strong><\/a>was born two years ago, as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and a small group of companies and, since then, they have maintained the objective of “the search for the best formulas to achieve a low-carbon economy, capable of contributing to the fight against climate change, and synonymous with sustainable growth,” Saavedra recalled.
\n 
At the beginning of 2015, the Group, which currently has half of the companies in the Ibex, designed a Roadmap with a first work programme and, subsequently, presented the Barcelona Declaration<\/strong><\/a>, with ten recommendations to move towards a low-carbon economy. After reviewing the milestones of the GECV, now converted into a non-profit business association, Saavedra said that “you cannot have more committed and qualified allies in this exciting task of leading our economies towards more efficient and sustainable models”.

He also recalled that during the last year all the countries of the world have united in the fight against climate change and that the Paris Agreement, with plans presented that manage to cover 98% of global emissions, “allows us to be in a better position to face the social and economic implications derived from climate change”.<\/p>\n

The Spanish Group for Green Growth promotes public-private collaboration with the aim of jointly advancing current environmental challenges, such as solutions in terms of mitigation and adaptation to climate change, the decarbonisation of the economy or the promotion of a circular economy. Through this platform, the participation of companies in the most relevant debates on the subject<\/strong>, at national and international level, is encouraged, information is shared and opportunities for Spanish companies are identified.
