About 50 representatives from various sectors participate in the second participation committee of the LIFE IP INTEMARES.
\n<\/p>\n

Effective management of the marine Natura 2000 Network requires a training and capacity building programme aimed at managers and users of these areas<\/strong>. We have addressed this need in the second participation committee of the LIFE IP INTEMARES<\/a> project, which is coordinated by the Ministry for Ecological Transition, through the Biodiversity Foundation. <\/p>\n

Nearly 50 representatives from various sectors participated in this meeting<\/strong>, which focused on identifying, prioritising and defining a national training and training strategy aimed at managers of marine protected areas, as well as other users and stakeholders.<\/p>\n

In this space for participation we have had the involvement of <\/strong>sectors<\/strong> related to professional and recreational fishing; underwater activities; renewable energies; the scientific community and tourism, among others. Autonomous communities and <\/strong>the Ministries <\/strong>of the Interior have also participated; Education and Vocational Training; Labor, Migration and Social Security; Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; Science, Innovation and Universities; and the Ministry for Ecological Transition. <\/p>\n

Among the conclusions, training needs have been raised to increase the participation of the actors of the Natura 2000 Network<\/strong> in the preparation, decision-making and monitoring of the management plans of marine protected areas.<\/p>\n

The training strategy should also include actions that make it easier for managers to transmit the social and economic benefits and opportunities<\/strong> of the Natura 2000 Network and promote innovative awareness programmes<\/strong>, as highlighted during the committee. In the field of education, the implementation of training cycles<\/strong> on marine protected natural areas has been proposed. Knowledge and access to various sources of funding and scientific information<\/strong> have also been treated as strategic training lines. <\/p>\n

Participatory project <\/strong><\/p>\n

With LIFE IP INTEMARES we have set ourselves the goal of ensuring that the marine areas of the Natura 2000 Network are managed effectively<\/strong>. This objective can only be achieved with the active participation of all public administrations, socio-economic sectors, actors involved and users of the sea. <\/p>\n

Leading institutions in the field of management, research and conservation of the marine environment have come together to implement them<\/strong>. The Ministry for Ecological Transition coordinates LIFE INTEMARES, through the Biodiversity Foundation, and acts as a partner through the General Directorate of Sustainability of the Coast and the Sea. The Spanish Institute of Oceanography, the Spanish Fisheries Confederation, SEO\/BirdLife and WWF-Spain also participate as partners. The project has the financial contribution of the European Union’s LIFE programme, as well as other sources of funding. <\/p>\n
