CEIDA has launched a project for the prevention and control of invasive alien species in the six Galician Biosphere Reserves.
\n<\/p>\n

The Galician Centre for Environmental Extension and Dissemination (CEIDA)<\/a> has launched a campaign for the prevention and control of invasive alien species<\/strong> in the six Galician Biosphere Reserves<\/strong>. The initiative has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment through its call for grants. <\/p>\n

The objective is to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity thanks to the control of invasive species<\/strong> that pose a serious threat to native species through a training and awareness campaign for the prevention and control of invasive alien species in the territories of the six Reserves<\/strong>: Allariz Biosphere Reserve, Terras do Mi\u00f1o Biosphere Reserve, Mari\u00f1as Coru\u00f1esas e Terras do Mandeo Biosphere Reserve, Os Ancares Lucense e Montes de Navia Biosphere Reserve, Ger\u00eas – Xur\u00e9s Biosphere Reserve and the R\u00edo Eo, Oscos e Terras de Bur\u00f3n Biosphere Reserve, that currently operate integrated into a Network.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project seeks to consolidate and strengthen the existing link between the different Reserves <\/strong>and promote joint work <\/strong>that facilitates the achievement of the objectives to be achieved, in addition to increasing and improving the degree of knowledge of this problem in the territory of the six Reserves.<\/p>\n

In addition, activities will be developed to stimulate and promote participation within the local population of each Reserve and the most relevant information on this problem will be made available to the entire educational community, encouraging reflection and involvement in the conservation of biodiversity. These activities include the holding of a workshop<\/strong> that will have the participation of the managers of the Reserves for the identification and diagnosis of invasive species in each of them and a training seminar <\/strong>that emphasizes examples of good practices for the control of these species, aimed at the technical staff of the municipalities and the general public. <\/p>\n
