We participated in the XIV Spanish Committee Nature Conservation Forum of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (CeIUCN), which is held in Tenerife. This event is the main annual meeting of CeIUCN, where the scope and fit of members’ interests and activities into IUCN programmes and initiatives is discussed. <\/p>\n
One of the main focuses of attention is to address the problems of the external territories of the European Union. Undoubtedly, the Canary Islands is one of these enclaves, a unique space due to its rich biodiversity and its strategic importance for conservation. <\/p>\n
The aim of this forum is to actively contribute to the knowledge of the real state of nature on the islands, with a special focus on the threats that may endanger their conservation in the coming years, such as climate change or invasive species<\/strong>. At the same time, the 70th anniversary of IUCN is also celebrated. <\/p>\n The Biodiversity Foundation is a member of IUCN International and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Committee<\/strong>. Within the framework of this meeting, we have participated in the Board of Directors, the Assembly of Members and the Forum, sharing the challenges that lie ahead in terms of conservation and reviewing our 20 years of history, which we celebrate in 2018. <\/p>\n At the Biodiversity Foundation we work and share the initiatives and work of the IUCN.<\/strong> Our goal is to protect and conserve natural heritage and biodiversity. We do this by channelling aid and funds for the development of projects by entities such as NGOs, research centres or universities.
