To improve the situation of the Bonelli eagle, GREFA has completed a recovery project for this species, with the training of personnel to identify black spots in the electricity grid.
\n<\/p>\n

GREFA<\/a> has completed the “AQUILA a-LIFE” project, which has had the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition through its 2017 call for grants. The aim has been to achieve the recovery of Bonelli’s eagle and avoid its current regressive trend in the Western Mediterranean<\/strong> by working towards a suitable electricity grid for birds. <\/p>\n

Within the framework of this project, the work of reintroducing the Bonelli eagle<\/strong> has continued, releasing 27 specimens between October 2017 and March 2019 in Madrid, \u00c1lava, Navarra, Mallorca and Sardinia. All of them have been monitored as well as the populations of Andalusia and an annual census of the species in Spain. A diagnosis of electrocutions has also been made, 107 supports of dangerous power lines have been corrected. <\/p>\n

All this has been accompanied by training and awareness-raising actions<\/strong>. In Madrid, GREFA has organized 3 seminars aimed at its own staff and volunteers. The goal was to train a group of committed volunteers to conduct power line inspections in the field to identify electrocution black spots.
