The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment, Isabel Garc\u00eda Tejerina, received today in Marrakech, together with the European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Miguel Arias Ca\u00f1ete and the Chairman of Iberdrola, Jos\u00e9 Ignacio S\u00e1nchez Gal\u00e1n, the participants in the Moving for Climate Now initiative, a cycling route that departed on November 7 from Seville to the Moroccan city. with the aim of delivering to COP 22 a manifesto on the need to act urgently and decisively against climate change.<\/p>\n
The Ministry, through the Spanish Office for Climate Change, has participated in the initiative, promoted by the United Nations Global Compact, Iberdrola and the Marrakech Climate Summit (COP 22).<\/p>\n
Garc\u00eda Tejerina stressed that “Spain has been committed from day one to this initiative and to the Paris Agreement, an agreement that must lead us to an improvement in our quality of life and that is also an opportunity, an opportunity to generate employment, to improve the air quality of our cities and our health, for the conservation of biodiversity, water resources and the agri-food sector”.<\/p>\n
The march, which has taken place over 10 stages, has been attended by representatives of civil society and international institutions (European Commission, International Energy Agenda, Spanish Office for Climate Change, Biodiversity Foundation, Red Cross, Embassy of Spain in Rabat, Save the Children, Spanish Green Growth Group, Bloomberg, IPCC and MIT, among others).<\/p>\n
COMMITTED TO FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Moving for Climate Now has brought together a multidisciplinary team of 50 professionals from different companies, institutions and organisations committed to the fight against climate change.<\/p>\n The bike route has been carried out since Seville to Marrakech in 10 stages, with a route of more than 1,100 km, during which an attempt has been made to raise awareness of the need to face the challenge of global warming as soon as possible. Each day one of the expert participants in the field has been addressing each of the multiple aspects of the climate challenge such as sustainability, energy, financing, individual contribution, corporate responsibility, among many others. <\/p>\n In addition, upon their arrival at COP 22, they read a manifesto in which they encourage joining and multiplying forces to mobilise global society and curb climate change, encouraging public administrations, NGOs, companies, and society as a whole to mobilise.<\/p>\n The slogan of the initiative is focused on offering a message to society: “let’s all mobilize, with all the levers and that’s it”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"class_list":["post-97859817","notas_de_prensa","type-notas_de_prensa","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
