November 16, 2018- <\/span><\/u><\/b>Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2006, has highlighted the role of social and green entrepreneurship initiatives as a transformative tool to move towards a greener and fairer economy. This was pointed out during a conference held today at the headquarters of the Biodiversity Foundation, which has contributed to inspiring and strengthening the various actors in the green and social entrepreneurship ecosystem in Spain. <\/span><\/p>\n

Yunus is the main protagonist of “Emprendeverde #3ZeroExperience”, an initiative organized by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, in collaboration with Tandem Social and co-financed by the European Social Fund, which includes this inspiring day with the Nobel Peace Prize and a training and advisory course to promote the creation of green and social companies.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Muhammad Yunus is a Bangladeshi social entrepreneur, banker, economist and social leader, founder of the  <\/span>Grameen Bank. It is the developer  <\/span>of the concepts of microcredit (devised by the Pakistani Dr. Akhter Hameed Khan) and microfinance. These are loans granted to entrepreneurs who do not have access to credit in a traditional bank and who, thanks to these microcredits, can develop their ideas. Yunus and Grameen Bank were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for their efforts to encourage social and economic development from below. <\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout his life he has also received several distinctions, including the Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar International Award in 1996, the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord in 1998, the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009 and the Gold Medal of Congress in 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n

The presence of Muhammad Yunus in Spain “is a unique opportunity for the ecosystem of the Red emprendeverde, which already has more than 8,700 members,” said the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Sonia Casta\u00f1eda. <\/span><\/p>\n

DAY #3ZEROEXPERIENCE<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

Today’s session revolved around the transformative potential of his thesis of the “3 zeros” (zero poverty, zero unemployment and zero net carbon emissions) with an inspiring talk and a round table with 90 attendees, including the main agents of the green entrepreneurship ecosystem in Spain. <\/span><\/p>\n

ENTREPRENEURSHIP WITH YUNUS <\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

Taking advantage of this day, the Biodiversity Foundation has organised various training and support sessions to promote the creation of green and social companies. Among them “Emprendeverde con Yunus #3ZeroExperience”, a meeting aimed at 15 people who want to undertake with a positive environmental and social impact. With today’s conference, two face-to-face sessions have already been held, the last one will take place on December 13, also at the headquarters of the Biodiversity Foundation. <\/span><\/p>\n

The objective of the three days is to accelerate the development of the green and social entrepreneurship projects of the participants and integrate Yunus’ vision of the 3 zeros, with a great potential for social and environmental transformation.
