{"id":97851780,"date":"2024-02-09T09:29:15","date_gmt":"2024-02-09T08:29:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/notas_de_prensa_mite\/spain-contributes-10-million-to-the-global-biodiversity-framework-fund\/"},"modified":"2024-02-09T09:29:15","modified_gmt":"2024-02-09T08:29:15","slug":"spain-contributes-10-million-to-the-global-biodiversity-framework-fund","status":"publish","type":"notas_de_prensa_mite","link":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/en\/notas_de_prensa_mite\/spain-contributes-10-million-to-the-global-biodiversity-framework-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain contributes $10 million to the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The creation of the fund was agreed at COP15 on Biodiversity and formalized in August last year.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) is contributing 10 million euros to the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund to 2030, approved at the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) on Biological Diversity and formalized in August 2023 at the seventh assembly of the Global Environment Facility.<\/p>\n<p>Spain participates with the aim of accelerating investment in the conservation and restoration of ecosystems, the promotion of the sustainable use of natural resources and the fight against biodiversity loss, also with important benefits for climate objectives.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is time to dedicate efforts to concrete action, with actions that promote change and contribute to the fulfillment of the objectives established in the Global Framework,&#8221; said the Secretary of State for the Environment, Hugo Mor\u00e1n, during the first meeting of the Council of the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund held this Thursday in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>The fight against biodiversity loss is not only vital in the environmental dimension, but also in the economic and social dimension: biodiversity underlies 40% of our global economy and is essential for maintaining the natural balances that guarantee the health and well-being of people.<\/p>\n<p>The Kuniming-Montreal Global Framework was an important step towards biodiversity recovery.
