{"id":97856925,"date":"2024-09-11T11:59:17","date_gmt":"2024-09-11T09:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/notas_de_prensa_mite\/miteco-presents-a-manual-to-promote-the-inclusion-of-sustainability-criteria-in-public-procurement\/"},"modified":"2025-04-15T09:20:56","modified_gmt":"2025-04-15T07:20:56","slug":"miteco-presents-a-manual-to-promote-the-inclusion-of-sustainability-criteria-in-public-procurement","status":"publish","type":"notas_de_prensa_mite","link":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/en\/notas_de_prensa_mite\/miteco-presents-a-manual-to-promote-the-inclusion-of-sustainability-criteria-in-public-procurement\/","title":{"rendered":"MITECO presents a manual to promote the inclusion of sustainability criteria in public procurement"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The &#8220;Manual for ecological public procurement of the General State Administration&#8221; has been prepared by the University of Alcal\u00e1, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation and the General Directorate of Services of MITECO<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>This tool contributes to the adaptation and application of the Green Public Procurement Plan in the field of the General State Administration, whose application is led by the Undersecretary for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>It responds to the need to incorporate ecological criteria in public procurement, which will allow administrations to promote and contribute to the objectives of economic and environmental sustainability in the development of their activity<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has published the <a href=\"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Manual-contratacion-publica-ecologica.pdf\">Manual for Green Public Procurement of the General State Administration<\/a> with the aim of facilitating the adaptation and application of the Green Public Procurement Plan within the scope of the General State Administration.<br \/>\nThis publication was presented today at the headquarters of the MITECO Biodiversity Foundation in an event attended by various ministerial units of the General State Administration and which was attended by the Undersecretary for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Miguel Gonz\u00e1lez Suela; the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Elena Pita; and the manager of the University of Alcal\u00e1, Carmen Figueroa Navarro.<br \/>\nVarious public bodies have also participated, addressing the challenges of green public procurement and sharing success stories in this field.<br \/>\nThis manual contributes to the adaptation and application <g id=\"gid_1\">of the Green Public Procurement Plan of the General State Administration, its autonomous bodies and the managing entities of the Social Security (2018-2025),<\/g> whose application is led by the Undersecretariat for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.<br \/>\nThis plan responds to the need to incorporate ecological criteria in public procurement, which will allow administrations to promote and contribute to the objectives of economic and environmental sustainability in the development of their activity.<br \/>\nSpecifically, it includes a series of general environmental procurement criteria, of a voluntary nature, which may be incorporated into the procurement specifications such as selection criteria, award criteria, technical specifications and special execution conditions. <g id=\"gid_2\"><g id=\"gid_3\">PROMOTION OF GREEN PUBLIC PROCUREMENT<\/g><\/g> Public procurement is a strategic tool to influence the market and be a driver of economic change to continue moving towards a decarbonised and economically efficient society, which guarantees a sustainable horizon, in compliance with the commitments made by Spain in the Paris Agreement and the European Green Deal.<br \/>\nIn this line, the 2030 Agenda advocates ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns and, specifically, promoting public procurement practices that are sustainable, in accordance with national policies and priorities.<br \/>\nIn this context, the MITECO Biodiversity Foundation supports the Undersecretariat for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge in the development of a series of actions related to the Green Public Procurement sector within the framework of the &#8220;Changing lifestyles to recover nature&#8221; programme, which it coordinates within the framework of the Recovery Plan.
