Coinciding with the celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity, on 22 May, the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge is launching #Biodirectos, a series of online<\/em> meetings, broadcast live and simultaneously on the different social media channels (Twitter, Facebook and YouTube) of the Biodiversity Foundation.<\/p>\n

The aim of these meetings, organised by the Ministry through the Biodiversity Foundation, is to raise awareness of the important role that biodiversity plays in relation to human health, as well as to discuss various issues related to the opportunities offered by a green reconstruction after the global crisis generated by COVID-19. This cycle will consist of various meetings, in some of which representatives of MITECO will participate, and will be held over the coming months. <\/p>\n

BIODIVERSITY: AN ALLY TO CURB PANDEMICS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The first meeting “Biodiversity: an ally to curb pandemics” will take place on May 22, coinciding with the celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity. It will begin at 12:00 noon, with a duration of one hour, and will aim to establish a debate on the effects of biodiversity loss and its link with the emergence and spread of pandemics such as the one we are experiencing. <\/p>\n

In this first Biodirecto, which will be moderated by the political scientist and sociology professor Cristina Monge, the general director of Biodiversity, Forests and Desertification of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Jorge Marqu\u00ednez, will participate. Fernando Valladares, a scientist at the CSIC, and Julio D\u00edaz, an expert at the National School of Health of the Carlos III Health Institute, will also take part. <\/p>\n

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO THE HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

This series of meetings gives voice to the opinions of contrasted experts from various fields, with the aim of seeking solutions to the main challenges we face as a society, the health and environmental crisis. Thus, the next events will focus on the opportunities offered by a green reconstruction, how to prevent future pandemics by strengthening the control of illegal trafficking of species, on the importance of maintaining a balance in the health of marine ecosystems, or how the green entrepreneurship sector is facing this crisis, paying special attention to the initiatives of the Emprendeverde Network. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"class_list":["post-97860018","notas_de_prensa_mite","type-notas_de_prensa_mite","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nMITECO launches the #Biodirectos cycle to raise awareness of the role that biodiversity plays in human health and the opportunities offered by green reconstruction -
