The Ministry for Ecological Transition participated in the Business and Biodiversity Forum, one of the main international events in the field of business and biodiversity, to highlight the importance of working together with actors in society in the conservation of biological diversity.<\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

 <\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

This meeting is being held in parallel with the meeting of the High-Level Segment prior to the start of the fourteenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. It brings together the main leaders and representatives of the business world and civil society to discuss how to effectively integrate biodiversity into economic activity, which, on this occasion, focuses on the energy and mining sectors, infrastructure, manufacturing and industrial processes and health. <\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

 <\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

The Director General of Biodiversity and Environmental Quality, Javier Cach\u00f3n, highlighted the importance of working in alliances to achieve effective synergies in the conservation of biodiversity, since the responsibility and challenge of achieving a sustainable economy with biodiversity must be shared among all social and business actors in order to be effective.<\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

 <\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Cach\u00f3n stressed that “the administration, companies and citizens must be aware of the intrinsic dependence we have on biodiversity and ecosystem services” and that “all together we can be stronger”. He mentioned that biodiversity must be considered in all decision-making processes in the transition to a sustainable economy, which takes into account the value of natural capital. <\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

PUBLIC-PRIVATE COLLABORATION<\/u5:p><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/o:p><\/p>\n

As an example of public-private collaboration that aims to advance in this direction, the work of the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative, coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation, of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, which works with 22 large companies and important business and conservation entities to integrate biodiversity into the business sector, has been highlighted.<\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

 <\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

As a concrete example of the work carried out and in line with the main theme of the United Nations conference in Egypt (integration of biodiversity in the energy and mining sectors, infrastructure, manufacturing and industrial processes and health), the Practical Guide to Ecological Restoration has been officially presented, which reflects the usefulness of the partnership between companies and the administration. to achieve consensual solutions to common problems. <\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

This guide aspires to be a tool that contributes to the application of the future State Strategy for Green Infrastructure, and Ecological Connectivity and Restoration, which is being finalised by the ministry and which aims to provide a methodology of ecological restoration for the restorations of natural capital in Spain. <\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

The Business and Biodiversity Forum has brought together more than 300 representatives from the business world to support the paradigm shift towards a society that incorporates sustainability criteria into its economic and production model.<\/u5:p><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n
