Understanding MPAs as management tools for the conservation and sustainability of resources, it is necessary to develop strategies for assessing the effects of these protection measures. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The evaluation of the effectiveness of an MPA almost necessarily involves establishing follow-up and monitoring programs that use appropriate indicators to quantify the responses of populations to the regulations implemented. There are multiple programs to monitor populations inside and outside the reserve that use indicators of stock size, population demographic structure or biodiversity; but few examples include aspects related to the behavior of the species and their interaction with the spatial design of the MPA. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The main objective of the project is to develop a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness of a marine protected area based on the behavior of the species subject to protection. Including the spatial and animal behaviour component in the assessment and management of an MPA requires the development of appropriate indicators to measure the extent and direction of its effects.
