Effective, integrated and participatory management in the areas included in the Natura 2000 Network involves knowing and managing human uses in these areas. In the area ES0000083 the Cabrera Archipelago, artisanal fishing for small gear is commonly practiced. The SCI and SPA overlap with two protection figures: the Cabrera Maritime-Terrestrial National Park and the Migjorn Marine Reserve in Mallorca. Both figures are associated with different fisheries management measures and monitoring programmes and have the direct participation of the small gear fleet that fishes in their waters. The collection of fisheries information generated under these two figures and their joint analysis had never been carried out. <\/p>\n

The project has collected all the available historical fishing information from the fishermen’s guilds and the different competent administrations in the area ES0000083 to jointly evaluate the data collected and have a global vision of artisanal fishing in the study area \u2013 its magnitude and economic and social dimension \u2013 as well as assess the sustainability of the activity. In the environmental aspect, it has sought to know the evolution of the species caught and identify declines or recovery of exploited species, all to improve the management of the protected area. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
