The project has developed and applied a governance tool to improve the environmental, economic and social sustainability of the management of fisheries resources and the marine environment, in the Northwest Cantabrian National Fishing Ground.<\/p>\n

Firstly, a system of sustainability indicators has been created to be applied in one or more pilot fisheries, those for skate and monkfish, managed under TAC, and those for sea bass and cuttlefish, managed under effort. The aim was to generate a sufficiently generic system to be applied in the future to a large number of fisheries and fleets in the Northwest Cantabrian National Fishery. <\/p>\n

It is an innovative tool that combines high-resolution information and knowledge from the associated fleets and fisheries, with the creation of a mixed committee of stakeholders<\/em>, mainly representatives of the fishing sector, public administration and the scientific community, to generate consensual proposals that support decision-making in the management of the marine environment and fisheries. based on the information provided.<\/p>\n
