The project <\/em>aimed to contribute to the sustainability of aquaculture activity and the efficient use of resources in the field of recovery of aquaculture waste, more specifically, of organic by-products generated in aquaculture.<\/p>\n

Through the creation of a contrast table, made up of all the stakeholders in the aquaculture value chain, the needs and problems in the field of aquaculture waste have been identified, being able to define the expectations of the future. Likewise, solutions have been sought that comply with the principle of prioritisation of uses of food by-products set by the European Commission; The first option always seeks to take advantage of by-products to create new products that can be used for human food, additives, cosmetic or pharmaceutical use. The second assesses whether the resulting product can be used in animal feed. Finally, in the fractions of lower value and less suitable for other uses, their capacity to obtain energy was studied. <\/p>\n

With the information and methodology suitably structured and contrasted, it has been transferred to the sector through the preparation of a guide\/manual to select the most appropriate recovery option for each specific case. Workshops have also been held to transfer the results of the project to the different actors involved in the aquaculture by-product recovery chain. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
