{"id":97861715,"date":"2014-08-12T09:01:34","date_gmt":"2014-08-12T07:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/programa_pleamar\/effectiveness-of-marine-reserves-in-the-conservation-of-rays-and-sharks\/"},"modified":"2014-08-12T09:01:34","modified_gmt":"2014-08-12T07:01:34","slug":"effectiveness-of-marine-reserves-in-the-conservation-of-rays-and-sharks","status":"publish","type":"programa_pleamar","link":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/en\/programa_pleamar\/effectiveness-of-marine-reserves-in-the-conservation-of-rays-and-sharks\/","title":{"rendered":"Effectiveness of Marine Reserves in the conservation of rays and sharks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n            <strong>Description<\/strong>\n          <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This project aims to advance the knowledge of the ecology of four species of coastal elasmobranchs: mosaic ray (Raja undulata), painted ray (R. montagui), winged shark (Scyliorhinus stellaris) and catshark (S. canicula) in the R\u00eda de Cedeira Marine Reserve of Fishing Interest and in the Cabo de Palos \u2010 Islas Hormigas Marine Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>Through this project, FUAC has contributed to expanding the knowledge of the ecology of two species of <strong>rays<\/strong> (<em>R. undulata<\/em> and<em> R. montagu<\/em>i) and two <strong>sharks<\/strong> (<em>S. canicula<\/em> and <em>S. stellaris<\/em>) in the RMIP <strong>R\u00eda de Cedeira<\/strong> and in the <strong>RM Cabo de Palos \u2010 Islas Hormigas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The study has focused on the distribution, abundance and use of the habitat, based on the<strong> traditional ecological knowledge<\/strong> (TEC) of fishermen (professional and recreational) and recreational divers in each of the study areas; It has also been possible to analyse the spatial\u2010temporal dynamics of the species through ultrasonic telemetry experiments, and to determine the <strong>effectiveness of the reserves<\/strong> on the protection of coastal elasmobranchs in general and on the species studied in particular.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.programapleamar.es\/proyectos\/eficacia-de-las-reservas-marinas-en-la-conservacion-de-rayas-y-tiburones\">See the project<\/a>\n          <\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":22405,"parent":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"financiaci_n":[702,650],"lineas_actuacion_tematicas":[655],"class_list":["post-97861715","programa_pleamar","type-programa_pleamar","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","financiaci_n-european-fisheries-fund","financiaci_n-fundacion-biodiversidad-en","lineas_actuacion_tematicas-marine-ecosystems"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.9 -
