Relationship with fisheries and impact on population parameters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>          <strong>Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The SteLar &#8211; Delta project (&#8220;Ste&#8221;, from the genus of terns <em>Sterna<\/em>, &#8220;Lar&#8221; from the genus of gulls <em>Larus<\/em> and &#8220;Delta&#8221; from the marine SPA of the Ebro Delta), aims <strong>to analyse the sustainability of fishing activity in the marine SPA &#8220;Marine area of the Delta de l&#8217;Ebre &#8211; Illes Columbretes&#8221;,<\/strong> from the trophic point of view of seabirds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The project <strong>will assess the biomass available in the form of food in the foraging areas of five species of breeding seabirds <\/strong>described from the monitoring of each species with GPS devices. To do this, it will first analyse the diet of these species and assess the trophic requirements of the entire population of each of them (biomass necessary to guarantee their BEA in the SPA). Subsequently, the estimated prey biomass for the 2022 breeding period will be assessed, taking into account the biomass extracted by professional fishing and the contribution of food for seabirds in the form of discards and from aquaculture, both for the SPA as a whole and for the foraging areas.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This project is therefore intended <strong>to contribute to the good fisheries management of the most important marine SPA in the Spanish Mediterranean,<\/strong> as well as to serve as a basis for defining clear and effective methodologies to assess the trophic needs of seabirds in RN2000.
