Integrated Surveillance of Toxic Benthic Dinoflagellates on the Spanish Levante Coast."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The results of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.programapleamar.es\/proyectos\/levabentox-vigilancia-integrada-de-dinoflagelados-bentonicos-toxicos-en-la-costa-del\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LEVABENTOX<\/a><\/strong> project, of the 2023 call of the Pleamar Programme, have revealed proliferations of toxic dinoflagellates of the genus <em>Ostreopsis<\/em> and the presence of <em>Gambierdiscus<\/em> on beaches in Murcia and Almeria. These results justify the monitoring of these organisms, due to their potential impact on human health, the biodiversity of marine ecosystems and the coastal economy. <\/p>\n<p>LEVABENTOX 2 will advance in its study, improving the knowledge of its diversity and dynamics by monitoring the most affected areas, and expanding the research to areas of the provinces of Almeria and Alicante. Coastal dynamics will be studied as a factor in their proliferation and metagenomic analyses will be applied for a more complete study of their taxonomy and biodiversity. In addition, the focus will be expanded to public health and fisheries, developing a cell bioassay for ovatoxins that can be used in <em>monitoring<\/em> and carrying out a preliminary <em>screening<\/em> to assess whether fish in the areas where <em>Gambierdiscus <\/em>was detected are bioaccumulating ciguatoxins that pose a possible health and economic risk.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":22405,"parent":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"financiaci_n":[680],"lineas_actuacion_tematicas":[655],"class_list":["post-97875362","programa_pleamar","type-programa_pleamar","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","financiaci_n-european-maritime-fisheries-and-aquaculture-fund","lineas_actuacion_tematicas-marine-ecosystems"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.5 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>LEVABENTOX 2.
