Comprehensive Remote System with new tools for the Monitoring, Detection and Prediction of Risks of Potentially Harmful Marine Events of Natural or Anthropic Origin in Off-Shore Areas Intended for Aquaculture."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a continuation of the SIRENA project, SIRENA 2 responds to the growing need to improve the capacity for monitoring, predicting and managing environmental events that affect aquaculture in the marine environment of the Canary Islands.<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, the appearance of harmful events, both natural and of anthropic origin, has highlighted the lack of integrated systems capable of monitoring in real time, predicting their evolution and evaluating their impacts on the marine environment and aquaculture exploitations. In this context, SIRENA 2 represents a significant advance by incorporating new technologies and methodological approaches that improve the accuracy, automation and operability of these tools. <\/p>\n<p>The project is structured around three fundamental pillars:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advanced ocean surveillance using satellites and artificial intelligence<\/strong>, using remote sensing imagery (Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3) and automated analysis algorithms for the detection of ocean signals and risk events.<br \/>\n<strong>Next-generation <em>in situ<\/em> observation<\/strong>, combining oceanographic campaigns with the use of autonomous surface vehicles, which will provide high-resolution data for model validation and improvement.<br \/>\n<strong>Modelling and intelligent warning systems<\/strong>, focused on the development and validation of high-resolution ocean models, the assimilation of observational data and the implementation of automated early warning systems.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the initiative comprehensively addresses both the external factors that affect aquaculture farms and the impacts derived from their activity, making it possible to analyse the interaction between both dimensions and trace the environmental footprint in their surroundings.<\/p>\n<p>SIRENA 2 incorporates key advances over its predecessor, including process automation, the application of artificial intelligence, remote communication for alert generation and the integration of new observation technologies.
