In 2018, MITERD declared the Mediterranean Cetacean Migration Corridor ES90MED10 within the RAMPE, thus reaching 13% of protected marine area. This project aims to expand knowledge about the populations of cetaceans and sea turtles that inhabit or migrate through the Mediterranean Cetacean Migration Corridor, with the aim of complying with the requirements demanded by European regulations, and in particular the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, the Habitats Directive and the Birds Directive. Air and sea sampling campaigns will be carried out for cetaceans, turtles, floating litter and other species in the northern area of the Corridor (32,652km2). The abundance will be estimated and the distribution of the main species sighted will be modelled.
