The importance of hosts in the development of ex situ strategies (MargaSalmo)"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>The river mussel<em>(Margaritifera margaritifera)<\/em> is an endangered freshwater bivalve mollusk whose life cycle is characterized by an obligatory parasitic phase in the gills of Atlantic salmon and brown trout.<\/li>\n<li>The project has focused on the relationship between this naiad and its hosts, obtaining data on the specificity of the relationships in different populations.<\/li>\n<li>The data obtained underline the need to have populations in a good state of conservation of hosts to ensure the viability of the naiad in the natural environment, providing trout and salmon aptitudes that optimize the results of its life cycle.<\/li>\n<li>River connectivity has also been found to be one of the key factors in the regression of the current demographic status of <em>Margaritifera margaritifera<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>A considerable increase in the stock of juveniles (85,500 specimens) has been achieved at the organization&#8217;s facilities, which, thanks to this project, has been able to substantially improve its equipment and know-how, resulting in an improvement in the techniques used and the culture conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":49212,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"financiaci_n":[650],"lineas_actuacion_tematicas":[654],"class_list":["post-49214","proyectos_ficha","type-proyectos_ficha","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","financiaci_n-fundacion-biodiversidad-en","lineas_actuacion_tematicas-terrestrial-ecosystems"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.9 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Factors involved in the conservation of the endangered naiad Margaritifera margaritifera.
