The initiative aims to promote educational communities committed to their environment, calling on their members (educators, students and students’ families) to respond with concrete actions to the challenges posed by the energy crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

The initiative aims to promote educational communities committed to their environment, calling on their members (educators, students and students’ families) to respond with concrete actions to the challenges posed by the energy crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

The “Five Years!” campaign is an awareness-raising proposal promoted by the Employee’s Home Foundation, hereinafter FUHEM, aimed at educational communities around the energy crisis in its double aspect: global warming and the “peak of oil” (or the end of cheap oil). It is inspired by the five-year time frame, which experts have set to remedy some of the worst consequences of the environmental crisis we are experiencing. <\/p>\n

Raising awareness to strengthen the environmental awareness of citizens is the key to legitimizing the interventions that are proposed. A fundamental area to forge this environmental awareness is the educational space. The campaign is an awareness-raising tool aimed especially at this sector of the population. <\/p>\n

Within the framework of the campaign, the project “Five Years. When the important thing is also the urgent” will have a direct impact on the FUHEM educational community, made up of more than 4,000 students, their families and 350 teachers, and indirectly on society as a whole, thanks to the publicity of the project and a final action aimed at applying the experience as an example of good practices. It is a pilot experience that can even be developed in other educational centers. <\/p>\n

As part of the initiative, teaching material will be developed and disseminated, in addition to creating a blog about the campaign to create a catalogue of good practices in each of the FUHEM schools, which can be raised and approved by the School Council of each centre. Tree plantations and the creation of a school garden will also be carried out in the Hipatia Municipal Educational City, in Rivas Vaciamadrid. <\/p>\n
