\n The project proposes actions for the conservation of the brown bear, through agreements with the Cantabrian Hunting Federation and with 12 hunting societies that manage bear hunting reserves in Asturias and bring together more than 4,000 hunters, mostly local.<\/span>\n <\/p>\n

\n In essence, it is intended to promote a good scenario of collaboration with wild boar hunters in batida, which is the hunting modality with the greatest implantation among local hunters in the Cantabrian bear areas and the one that can interfere to a greater extent with the conservation of the brown bear.<\/span>\n <\/div>\n

It seeks the involvement and direct participation of hunters in conservation tasks, consists of education and public awareness activities, specifically aimed at the hunters, on the management and conservation problems of the bear, as well as actions that seek to prevent the death of bears, both accidental during the exercise of hunting, as caused by stealth trapping. The actions that are proposed favor the acceptance of the bear among hunters and contribute to reducing conflicts between bears and hunting activity. <\/p>\n

More specifically, this project aims to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Prevent the mutilation or death of bears caused by illegal snares.<\/li>\n
  2. Promote the use of transmitters in big game drives to avoid the possible accidental death of bears.<\/li>\n
  3. Improve the habitat in hunting reserves to promote compatibility between hunting activity and bear conservation.<\/li>\n
  4. To promote training and information campaigns among the hunters.<\/li>\n
  5. Promote the participation of the hunters’ collective in bear conservation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
