This project aims to comply with the commitments of Spanish regulations, specifically the Convention on Biological Diversity of the United Nations.

\nThe main objective of this project is to comply with the commitments of Spanish regulations, specifically the Convention on Biological Diversity of the United Nations Organization and more specifically point twelve of said regulations and objective eight of the ‘Global Strategy for Plant Conservation’, both referring to the conservation of those species that are in danger of extinction.<\/p>\n

Firstly, this project, developed by the General Foundation of the University of Alcal\u00e1 de Henares, aims to collect geographically and genetically representative samples of seeds of the thirteen species studied, as well as the herbarium samples necessary for their present and future identification.<\/p>\n

Another objective is to conserve seed collections in genebanks (genetic conservation sites) in the long term and, at the same time, to keep duplicates of them in other banks to ensure the safety of the material.<\/p>\n

In addition, the germination of the seeds will be studied and different protocols will be generated to ensure their usefulness in future projects of planet production and ecological restoration. Once the study is completed, the results of the project will be disseminated to the public administrations likely to use these seeds in the future, to the scientific community and to the general public. <\/p>\n

A report on failed stocks, i.e. missing or seedless stocks, will also be prepared and a lecture will be given on the project.<\/p>\n
