{"id":97860902,"date":"2014-07-09T10:59:08","date_gmt":"2014-07-09T08:59:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/proyectos_ficha\/oasis-ii-project-conservation-of-sea-turtles-and-other-large-pelagics\/"},"modified":"2014-07-09T10:59:08","modified_gmt":"2014-07-09T08:59:08","slug":"oasis-ii-project-conservation-of-sea-turtles-and-other-large-pelagics","status":"publish","type":"proyectos_ficha","link":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/en\/proyectos_ficha\/oasis-ii-project-conservation-of-sea-turtles-and-other-large-pelagics\/","title":{"rendered":"OASIS II Project &#8211; Conservation of Sea Turtles and Other Large Pelagics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The objective is the recovery of large pelagic populations (loggerhead turtles and bottlenose dolphins) in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The overall objective of the OASIS II Project is the recovery of large pelagic populations and in particular the loggerhead turtle (<em>Caretta caretta<\/em>) and the bottlenose dolphin (<em>Tursiops truncatus<\/em>) of the North Atlantic and Mediterranean through the development of technologies to prevent and mitigate the risks of interaction with fishing gear, pollution and maritime traffic.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative, coordinated by Alnitak, has the collaboration of the fishing and maritime traffic sectors together with international scientific institutions (NOAA, National Geographic, Stanford University, Groupe Tortues Marines de France, HYDRA Institute and University of Siena) and national (IEO and IMEDEA SOCIB), developing research, management and dissemination actions.<\/p>\n<p>The specific objectives of the project are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complement the MYOCEAN, IOOS and SOCIB ocean observing systems with animal tracking with satellite and acoustic tags.<\/li>\n<li>To develop an acoustic monitoring system for large pelagics in the Natura 2000 areas of the Menorca Channel, Murcia Marine Environment, South Almeria, Alboran Island and Eastern Strait.<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of experimentation campaigns on habitat use and sensory biology following the protocols of the OASIS Programme.<\/li>\n<li>To develop a university training course at sea, integrated into the Bologna Process of the European Union, focused on the preparation of future researchers for the marine network of Natura 2000<\/li>\n<li>Ensure continuity of the fisher training program from previous projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":22405,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"financiaci_n":[650],"lineas_actuacion_tematicas":[655],"class_list":["post-97860902","proyectos_ficha","type-proyectos_ficha","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","financiaci_n-fundacion-biodiversidad-en","lineas_actuacion_tematicas-marine-ecosystems"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.9 -
