{"id":97860918,"date":"2016-09-09T08:04:56","date_gmt":"2016-09-09T06:04:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/proyectos_ficha\/implementation-of-the-conservation-plan-for-killer-whales-in-the-strait-of-cadiz-and-gulf-of-cadiz\/"},"modified":"2016-09-09T08:04:56","modified_gmt":"2016-09-09T06:04:56","slug":"implementation-of-the-conservation-plan-for-killer-whales-in-the-strait-of-cadiz-and-gulf-of-cadiz","status":"publish","type":"proyectos_ficha","link":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/en\/proyectos_ficha\/implementation-of-the-conservation-plan-for-killer-whales-in-the-strait-of-cadiz-and-gulf-of-cadiz\/","title":{"rendered":"Implementation of the conservation plan for killer whales in the Strait of Cadiz and Gulf of Cadiz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>CIRCE, an entity for the Conservation, Information and Study of Cetaceans<\/strong>, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, has launched <strong>the conservation plan for the orca in the south of the peninsula.<\/strong> The main objective of the project is to improve knowledge about the management unit of killer whales in the Strait of Gibraltar and their natural habitat.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative aims <strong>to update the ecological knowledge of the species until 2016 in the Gulf of Cadiz and the Strait of Gibraltar<\/strong>, to know historical distribution ranges of killer whales in the Mediterranean, the Cantabrian Sea and coastal waters of Galicia and the Canary Islands, as well as to analyse the use of the space by whale watching companies in the waters of the Strait and the inlets of Barbate.  in relation to the observations of orcas through an environmental volunteer program.<\/p>\n<p>One of the star outcomes of the project will be the creation of a<strong>Catalog of identification of orcas at the national level, which will be hosted in <a href=\"https:\/\/cetidmed.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">cetimed.com<\/a><\/strong>, which will allow strengthening actions to protect the species. In this way, knowledge about the threats faced by these orcas and what their possible conservation measures could be would be completed. <\/p>\n<p>Finally, the initiative includes the <strong>creation of an <em>online<\/em> environmental education program<\/strong>, through the creation of a digital platform with updated knowledge of the Iberian killer whale, its threats and its conservation plan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":22405,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"financiaci_n":[650],"lineas_actuacion_tematicas":[655],"class_list":["post-97860918","proyectos_ficha","type-proyectos_ficha","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","financiaci_n-fundacion-biodiversidad-en","lineas_actuacion_tematicas-marine-ecosystems"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.9 -
