Recovery of Bonelli&#8217;s eagle populations in the western Mediterranean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This project aims to recover Bonelli&#8217;s eagle populations in the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThis project, launched by the &#8220;Group for the Rehabilitation of Native Fauna and its Habitat (GREFA)&#8221;, aims to <strong>recover Bonelli&#8217;s eagle populations in the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands<\/strong>. In addition, another objective is to achieve an <strong>increase in the number of breeding pairs<\/strong> in Madrid and Navarra and the establishment of two to four breeding pairs in Mallorca. <\/p>\n<p>This initiative also aims to <strong>reduce the risk of electrocution of birds<\/strong>, favor prey species in grazing areas and maintain international monitoring of captive breeding pairs to optimize existing resources and genetic variability. In addition, the population trend and dynamics of the Andalusian population will be studied. <\/p>\n<p>Within this program, the <strong>reintroduction of a minimum of two chickens per year through hacking<\/strong> is expected in the selected areas of Madrid, Navarra and Mallorca. In addition to choosing the specific places to install the chicks, actions will be carried out for the recovery of the populations of prey species. A captive breeding methodology for the species will also be established and a model of the dispersive movements of the tagged individuals will be created.  <\/p>\n<p>The initiative seeks<strong> to achieve a stock of captive breeding specimens to ensure future reintroductions<\/strong>. It is expected to reach agreements between the different entities and associations involved in the project and the correction of at least 100 potentially dangerous power line supports in the areas of release and dispersal of the species. <\/p>\n<p>Finally, it is intended to control at least 20% of the breeding pairs in the provinces of Ja\u00e9n, Almer\u00eda, Granada and Malaga and extract a minimum of six chicks from the Andalusian population.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the activities that will be carried out are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Habitat improvement actions<\/li>\n<li>Marking and monitoring of released specimens<\/li>\n<li>Transfer of specimens to release points<\/li>\n<li>Surveillance of chickens during their stay in hacking<\/li>\n<li>Food during your stay in hacking and first flights<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring of breeding pairs in Madrid<\/li>\n<li>Rescue of six nesting chicks of the Andalusian population<\/li>\n<li>Editing a documentary video about the project<\/li>\n<li>Dissemination of the project&#8217;s actions in the media and on the website<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":22405,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"financiaci_n":[650],"lineas_actuacion_tematicas":[654],"class_list":["post-97860958","proyectos_ficha","type-proyectos_ficha","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","financiaci_n-fundacion-biodiversidad-en","lineas_actuacion_tematicas-terrestrial-ecosystems"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.9 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Red Bonelli.
