Historically, the coastal wetlands of the Mar Menor were characterised by high salinity, mainly due to the high evaporation of water masses of intertidal origin. These biotopes were home to plant and vertebrate species of great rarity and ecological value, some of them, such as the fartet (<em>Lebias ibera<\/em>), which are now almost extinct. Other species such as larolimicolous reproduced in breeding colonies on its shores.   <\/p>\n<p>This project has been carried out in Bocarrambla, in the Marina del Carmol\u00ed 30 meters from the shore of the Mar Menor. The project has consisted of the recovery of a hypersaline crypto-wetland through the elimination of invasive shrub species present in the area, reforestation with native species, creation of the lagoon, intrusion of water from the Mar Menor, monitoring of the physical-chemical parameters of the water, creation of a bird watching post and the introduction of an endangered native species.
