The Rural Nature Association develops the project “Reintroduction of the Black Vulture 2016” to recover populations in their former habitat
\n<\/p>\n

The Rural Nature Association, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, developed the project “Reintroduction of the Black Vulture 2016” with the aim of contributing to the recovery of the former European distribution area of the Black Vulture.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project has managed to increase the number of fixed specimens by about 40 individuals and 16 more that are floating<\/strong>. The number of adults (62% of the population) has outnumbered young people and the gender imbalance is reduced. <\/p>\n

Of the 14 territorial pairs, 12 laid eggs and five chicks out of seven born flew. But the growth of the colony has been affected by several disappearances of individuals, so that the population has not increased and remains stable in its numbers. <\/p>\n

There have been significant dispersals of individuals from the pre-Pyrenean colony of Black Vulture to other colonies in the Iberian Peninsula and France. Visits by individuals from outside confirm that the objective of a demographic bridge for the species within Europe, which had already begun to be demonstrated in previous years, is reinforced. <\/p>\n

The PAS and PAE have proven to be a fundamental tool for the development of the colony, since they have been used by all the specimens of the colony.<\/p>\n
