{"id":97861080,"date":"2017-04-06T10:32:14","date_gmt":"2017-04-06T08:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/proyectos_ficha\/recovery-and-conservation-of-the-cartagena-rockrose-an-endangered-species\/"},"modified":"2017-04-06T10:32:14","modified_gmt":"2017-04-06T08:32:14","slug":"recovery-and-conservation-of-the-cartagena-rockrose-an-endangered-species","status":"publish","type":"proyectos_ficha","link":"https:\/\/fundacion-biodiversidad.es\/en\/proyectos_ficha\/recovery-and-conservation-of-the-cartagena-rockrose-an-endangered-species\/","title":{"rendered":"Recovery and conservation of the Cartagena rockrose, an endangered species"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Polytechnic University of Cartagena has launched the project &#8220;Actions for the recovery and conservation of the endangered species of Cartagena rockrose&#8221; to increase the number of specimens of the species and raise awareness of its situation.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Polytechnic University of Cartagena has launched the project &#8220;Actions for the recovery and <strong>conservation of the endangered species of Cartagena rockrose<\/strong> (Cistus heterophyllus subsp. carthaginensis)&#8221; with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment.<\/p>\n<p>Four main tasks will be carried out to improve their conservation. The first of these is <strong>the identification at the molecular level of pure specimens <\/strong>of <em>hybrid Cistus heterophyllus<\/em> subsp. <em>carthaginensis<\/em>  (<em>Cistus<\/em> x <em>clausonis<\/em>). This will serve to increase the number of individuals in population centers, as well as<strong> increase the number of populations<\/strong> with the reintroduction of 150 specimens with pure phenotype.  <\/p>\n<p>Another of its main objectives will be <strong>to safeguard in the long term the greatest genetic diversity<\/strong> of the species with the collection of seeds from the wild population for conservation in germplasm banks.<\/p>\n<p>It also aims <strong>to involve society <\/strong>in its conservation through the dissemination of a monograph on the species, a children&#8217;s publication and other dissemination materials in audiovisual format.
