The project gives continuity to the first phase that began in 2014 and is being carried out by the City Council of Alc\u00e1zar de San Juan with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation. The wetland to be restored is representative of &#8220;the La Mancha tables&#8221;, <strong>one of the types of wetlands that has seen its surface area reduced the most in recent decades<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>For a year, the actions that have been carried out range from the adaptation and improvement of the functionality of the dam built in phase I in the old mother of the Gig\u00fcela river, to the transfer of sediments from the wetland basin to facilitate the water reaching deeper areas, through the consolidation of sections of the separation dam of the restored area of the Z\u00e1ncara board.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, a topographic study of the wetland basin has been carried out to enhance, through water management, <strong>the vegetation most favourable to the animals that inhabit the area<\/strong>. A complementary purification system has also been designed to improve the quality of the water that reaches the wetland, as well as a wild boar control program in the surrounding areas.
