The Provincial Council of Cadiz, through the Provincial Energy Agency, has completed a ‘Program for the coastal management of the province of Cadiz’, with the support of theBiodiversity Foundation<\/strong> of the Ministry for Ecological Transition. The main recipients of this initiative have been the coastal municipalities of Cadiz, and their main objective has been to integrate adaptation to climate change into the planning and local management of the coast of Cadiz<\/strong>. <\/p>\n To carry out the project, the Coastal Management Program of the province of C\u00e1diz was first formulated<\/strong>. For its preparation, regional participation sessions were held with the main public administrations with competences on the coast; completing the information with personalized interviews with other entities or institutions whose activity had a close relationship with coastal zones. <\/p>\n As a result of this process and previous analysis work in the cabinet, the Programme for Coastal Management of the Province of C\u00e1diz was drafted, a strategic document to facilitate the adaptation to climate change of coastal municipalities. It includes 57 measures divided into 5 subprogrammes: information and knowledge; education and communication; formation; coordination; municipal cooperation and assistance; and resources. The Programme was publicly presented to the participating actors and the general public within the “Conference on adaptation to climate change in the municipalities of Cadiz”. <\/p>\n On the other hand, for the support of coastal managers at the local level of the province of C\u00e1diz, two documents were prepared<\/strong>; The first is a report on the integration of new regulatory instruments, plans and programmes on coastal management and climate change at the local level, which compiles the current regulations at European, state and regional level that are related to coastal management and climate change and that may have effects on the local scale. The second is a document of “recommendations for the adaptation of the coastal municipalities of Cadiz to the effects of climate change”, in which the main effects on the coast of Cadiz (flooding and erosion) are identified; a forecast of its evolution based on existing scientific studies and a series of recommendations are proposed for the main activities that take place on the Cadiz coastal strip: agriculture, aquaculture, tourism, industry, ports and urban planning. A section on green infrastructures is included as solutions for mitigation and adaptation to climate change. It is also accompanied by cartographic material prepared by regions. <\/p>\n To avoid the lack of communication between the municipalities and to share the information or plans drawn up, a tool for coordination, communication and cooperation was launched, the “Pact for the Sustainability of the Cadiz Coast”.<\/strong><\/p>\n The dissemination of the consequences of climate change within the territory was carried out under the design of an awareness campaign for the use of social groups<\/strong>.
