Climate Change Mitigation in Lake Enol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The initiative &#8216;Governance actions through social involvement and development of actions to mitigate the influence of climate change and global change in Lake Enol, in the Picos de Europa National Park&#8217; is developed by the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.igme.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IGME, the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain<\/a><\/strong>, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, through its call for grants.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most vulnerable ecosystems to climate change are lakes, and in particular within the Picos de Europa NP, Lake Enol. A complete operating model is available for this habitat sensitive to climate change (T\u00aa and<sub>O2<\/sub> dissolved monitored from 2013-present). <strong>From the indicators of the impact of climate change and human activity in Enol, the extent and duration of anoxia in the lake and the progressive increase in temperature and the erosive processes in its drainage basin that feed back into the anoxia of the lake can be highlighted<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Once these indicators have been identified, thanks to the SCCALE project, the most important and cross-cutting aspect in terms of adaptation to climate change has been to improve monitoring; at the same time, this system of indicators is a powerful and convincing tool for dissemination, awareness and communication.<\/p>\n<p>A new monitoring system has been installed and a high-resolution TDM of the eroded slope has been carried out to quantify the erosive processes that contribute to the contribution of organic matter to the lake. 3 technicians from the National Park were also trained to monitor and follow up on the lake&#8217;s climatic variables. At the same time, the seasonal functioning of the lake and the impacts of global change and climate change have been made known to all sectors of its immediate surroundings and to the general public with a series of activities such as  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Geolod\u00eda18_Asturias for the general public with 300 participants,<\/li>\n<li>meetings with the City Council of Cangas de On\u00eds,<\/li>\n<li>1 Conference for the INCAPUR business association,<\/li>\n<li>1 day for the livestock sector of the Council of Cangas,<\/li>\n<li>and 2 days with the students of CEIP Reconquista (5th and 6th year) and IES Rey Pelayo (4th ESO and 1st Baccalaureate) of this municipality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1,000 copies of a brochure and magnets of the SCCALE project have been made and distributed. Another of the materials edited by the project is the informative video &#8220;Enol: a lake in change&#8221; that has been made available to the PN to be exhibited at the Pedro Pidal Center and open on the website of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.igme.es\/patrimonio\/Sccale.htm\">http:\/\/www.igme.es\/patrimonio\/Sccale.htm<\/a> project. <\/p>\n<p>With these activities, together with the management of the National Park, the SCCALE project has contributed to increasing the resilience of the entire social fabric of the immediate surroundings of Lake Enol in the face of climate change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":22405,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"financiaci_n":[],"lineas_actuacion_tematicas":[670],"class_list":["post-97861303","proyectos_ficha","type-proyectos_ficha","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","lineas_actuacion_tematicas-drivers-of-biodiversity-loss"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.9 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>SCCALE.
