Women Action Sustainability (WAS) has joined as a strategic partner of the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB), an initiative coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), to promote the integration of biodiversity in corporate management, offering a space for dialogue between the public and private sectors.

Through this alliance, WAS members will acquire knowledge and experience thanks to the different activities and actions promoted by the IEEB. On the other hand, WAS partners will work to transfer this knowledge in order to promote nature conservation, increase biodiversity levels and promote responsible practices.

Mónica Chao, president of WAS, emphasized that “biodiversity is a priority for our association. In this sense, our first technical report addressed the relationship between cities and nature, as well as how to work to promote biodiversity while improving people’s well-being. We consider it essential to integrate biodiversity into all economic sectors, with all the knowledge and expertise required.”

The agreement sealed between both entities establishes a long-term collaboration framework, in which WAS and IEEB will work to raise awareness, transform and promote significant changes in organizations, resulting in the incorporation of biodiversity in decision-making processes, relying on the leadership of women in the business world, the public sector and civil society.

It will also serve to foster the exchange of best practices, the promotion of synergies and collaborations in the field of biodiversity protection and conservation, with the aim of contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and international and national biodiversity conservation plans and strategies.
