Spain has been a pioneer, through the OECC, in the development of a voluntary carbon footprint registration system, absorption projects, as well as in the “Proyecto Clima” emissions reduction program. In the forestry sector, there has been a high level of interest in the generation of credits linked to forestation or post-fire restoration absorption projects. The implementation of new forest management absorption projects will make it possible to expand and improve afforestation projects.
The ECO2FOR project aims to strengthen the fight against climate change through the development of forestry projects, attracting private investment and contributing to the development of economic activity in rural areas and the fight against depopulation.
Contribute to the fight against climate change by improving forest carbon sinks, while generating opportunities for private investment in the creation of new absorption projects, which generate economic activity in rural areas, especially in areas with demographic problems.
