BBK Karpin Fauna is a reception centre for wild animals from seizures due to illegal trafficking, abandoned pets, irrecoverable native fauna from recovery centres and other similar origins. The overall goal is to welcome them, ensure them a dignified life, and tell their stories to sensitize and raise awareness among visitors. The facilities are designed and equipped in such a way that they can offer each species the possibility of carrying out the same daily activities that they would do in their natural environment. The work of welcoming fauna is complemented by the educational and awareness-raising work among the population of the Basque Country and neighbouring provinces.

Some of the actions included in this project are:

  • Refurbish the panther space.
  • Readjust the lynx space.
  • Refurbish and expand the wolf space.
  • Renovate quarantine space.
  • Refurbish the space intended for diurnal birds of prey.
  • New spaces for birds.
  • Allocate part of the work of management to the organization of work derived from CITES species.
