Expansion and improvement of the facilities of the CAMADOCA centre for the rescue and reception of psittacine birds and raptors included in the CITES convention, with the possibility of hosting freshwater fish and invertebrates.

The project aims to contribute to the reduction of illegal trafficking and the conservation of protected wildlife species included in the CITES convention. It includes actions for environmental awareness and education and the establishment of synergies with other centres and sectors.

Some of the actions included in this project are:

  • Modification and expansion of the current facilities for psittacine birds and raptors at the Camadoca Rescue Centre, in Santa Maria de Merlès.
  • Actions to increase animal welfare: environmental enrichment, bodybuilding and socialisation of the psittacine birds and birds of prey taken in. Adapted nutrition and veterinary care.
  • Adaptation of new facilities for freshwater fish and invertebrate species included in the CITES convention. Processing of relevant administrative permits. Maintenance and health checks of the animals sheltered.
  • Education, environmental awareness and prevention campaigns to prevent illegal animal trafficking.
  • To establish collaborations and new synergies with other rescue centres, pet marketing sectors and other sectors involved in compliance with the CITES convention.
