The Biodiversity Foundation has held the meeting “Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Mobility” at the headquarters of UtopicUs, in Madrid. This is the first of the activities programmed by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, within the “Challenge for Sustainable Mobility” Campaign. All this within the framework of the European Mobility Week, which is held from 16 to 22 September.
During her speech at the event, Guillermina Yanguas, Director General of Environmental Quality and Assessment and the Natural Environment, stated that “citizens are fundamental agents to help improve air quality through the choice of their means of transport”. For the Ministry, as he stressed, this objective has been a priority since the beginning of the legislature, which is why it has drawn up the National Air Quality and Atmosphere Protection Plan, which was approved last April.
This Plan includes 78 measures, including some actions related to road traffic and sustainable mobility, Yanguas stressed. He cited as an example those aimed at promoting the renewal of commercial vehicles for other more efficient and cleaner models, through direct aid for their acquisition, and which are regulated in the PIMA Air Plan, endowed with a budget of 38 million euros.
For her part, the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Sonia Castañeda, stressed that sustainable mobility offers innovative and interesting business opportunities in initiatives that promote a change in the transport model.
Enric Cañas, director of the Fundació Privada Mobilitat Sotenible i Segura, also took part in the conference, giving the presentation “Sustainable mobility and entrepreneurship: new services based on collaborative consumption and the intersection of existing businesses”.
Subsequently, four entrepreneurs have presented their projects in the field of sustainable mobility. Specifically, they have presented their initiatives on the “Manufacture and marketing of electric vehicles and sharing of electric vehicles”; “Carsharing through a network of cars that can be accessed with a card 24 hours a day”; the “Transport of people by BIKE-TAXI and urban courier service” and the “Carpooling solutions or shared driving through a Web 2.0. for the promotion of car sharing.”
In addition to this meeting, the Biodiversity Foundation will publish a special edition of the Red emprendeverde Información Bulletin with specialized content around sustainable mobility initiatives. It has also launched other activities, such as the “Challenge for Sustainable Mobility” Campaign, with which it is intended that society and administrations get involved through social networks with the hashtag #RetoMovilidad.
