The Biodiversity Foundation has opened the deadline for submitting projects to the Empleaverde Programme in its 2014 edition.

The aim of the programme, co-financed by the European Social Fund through the Operational Programme for Adaptability and Employment 2007-2013, is to promote the potential of environmental and sustainability issues to generate jobs and create and consolidate green companies, paying special attention to young people under 30 years of age within the framework of the Entrepreneurship and Youth Employment Strategy 2013-2016 to which the Biodiversity Foundation has adhered.

The Biodiversity Foundation will promote the implementation of the selected projects with an investment of more than 3.1 million euros. Thus, the minimum amount of the projects will be €40,000 and the maximum €150,000. The deadline for submitting applications will end on January 20, 2014.

Among the recipients of the projects, priority will be given to young people under 30 years of age and disadvantaged groups such as women, people with disabilities, immigrants, people over 45 years of age and low-skilled workers. In addition, it will be positively valued that the projects are aimed at professionals dedicated to research into economic, legal, social and scientific issues of the environment.

Through the nearly 230 projects developed within the framework of the Programme, support is being given to the creation and consolidation of more than 2,300 companies or economic activities linked to the environment and the training of more than 55,000 workers. The projects developed reach one million recipients and create more than 500 direct jobs.

In addition, this Programme aims to promote entrepreneurship and the creation of green companies through the reinforcement of the Emprendeverde Network and the initiatives it promotes. This is an initiative launched by the Biodiversity Foundation, and it is the first platform aimed at entrepreneurs and investors specialized in green business. Its objective is to promote the creation and consolidation of companies or new lines of business in activities related to the environment and to channel investment towards sustainable economic activities.
