The Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete, explained that the Guadarrama Park will have the 2,000 hectares of the Valsaín mountains, as this is a publicly owned area.
The objective of the inclusion of this area in the future national park is to guarantee the protection of natural heritage, while making available to citizens, a space that will be regulated by the autonomous communities of Madrid and Castilla y León.
The Guadarrama Park will be the fifteenth national park, and the fifth in extension with more than 35,000 hectares.
