The Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete, has stated that “Spain is not going to let the green economy train escape”. Arias Cañete explained his commitment to the new development model of the Rio+20 Summit, at the awards ceremony of the Biodiversity Foundation “Red Emprendeverde”, which was held today at the headquarters of the department.

“With this call, the Ministry wants to give its support to all those entrepreneurs who, day by day, struggle in our country to make their way into the market and who carry out their activity in a production framework that respects the environment and minimizes the consumption of our natural resources,” stressed the Minister.

Arias Cañete has recognized the work and effort of the companies and initiatives awarded with the awards that celebrate their first edition this year. “With their enthusiasm and their work, they convey to all of us the importance of getting involved in building a fairer and more sustainable society, also highlighting that green entrepreneurship is a real business opportunity,” added the Minister.

The minister explained that initiatives such as the Red emprendeverde competition are intended to promote the development and consolidation of green growth in Spain, highlighting as an objective “to facilitate contact with investors, paving the way for the search for ways to finance, and underpinning their foundations so that they can grow and generate as many jobs as possible”.
