Civil society organisations, such as WWF Spain, play an important role in promoting active citizenship in Europe as they channel the participation of European society to ensure compliance with the sustainable development goals, environmental policies and international environmental conventions to which Spain is a signatory.
The main objective is to contribute to the protection of the environment and the conservation of biodiversity through public participation and political action during 2024 and 2025.
Specific goals include:
During 2024 and 2025, the entity has actively collaborated with the General State Administration (AGE) in the definition, proposal and execution of public policies of state competence through participation in 22 advisory bodies and national and European commissions (91 meetings); participation in 267 meetings and monitoring of 16 national and 7 international environmental networks; attendance at 44 national and 6 international congresses; the monitoring of national and European policies with the submission of 123 documents of allegations, suggestions and proposals to different Spanish standards and 38 additional proposal documents after the technical monitoring of 47 European standards; as well as the active monitoring of 15 international conventions to which Spain is a signatory.
