The Land Stewardship Platform, promoted since 2007 by the Biodiversity Foundation, has made significant progress in its development over the last year, especially in the development of its website (www.custodia-territorio.es), through which the efforts of land stewardship entities in the Spanish territory are shown and their collaboration with this conservation strategy is encouraged.
Through the Platform, the Biodiversity Foundation contributes to the enhancement of stewardship as a management tool for the conservation of natural resources and biodiversity in a given territory, while promoting information, knowledge and the exchange of experiences between land stewardship entities.
In this sense, the website of the Land Stewardship Platform has become a powerful dynamic and integrating element that has been adapted to 2.0 technology, becoming an indispensable tool for information and dissemination on the movement of land stewardship.
The website now has a new system for the collection of land stewardship initiatives throughout Spain, so that entities can incorporate online all the data related to their activity, along with the geographical coordinates, both of the headquarters of the entity and of the properties in custody. which are automatically linked on the web escrow map.?
The second compilation of data through the website has revealed the existence of 1,336 land stewardship agreements spread throughout the Spanish territory, except Ceuta and Melilla, that is, 630 more agreements compared to 2008, with a total area dedicated to land stewardship of more than 292,000 hectares (not counting 270 agreements for which the area of the guarded property is not available).
