The Friends of Bees Foundation supports novice beekeepers

Within the framework of the project “Development of actions for the recovery and maintenance of ecosystems”, the Friends of Bees Foundation continues the action of lending hives to the unemployed.

With the support of the Biodiversity Foundation for the second consecutive year, six hives have been awarded per beekeeper, ceded for three years free of charge. In this new call, priority was given to those unemployed people who have taken a beekeeping course, thus facilitating access to this professional activity for work.

Through this action, which already has 60 hives in operation, the aim is to increase pollination in degraded natural areas, while promoting the promotion of employment in rural areas and the reactivation of a declining agricultural occupation.

In parallel to this line of action, the project is completed with the installation of new apiaries that improve productivity in ecosystems with low entomophilic pollination, and the recovery of swarms in urban spaces for their conservation and use for beekeeping.
